Rocky Mountain Air Show @ Aurora Reservoir
May 29 all-day

Feel the thunder when the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron—otherwise known as the Thunderbirds—bursts across the Aurora sky for the first time in more than 18 years at the Rocky Mountain Airshow.

Slated for May 29 to 31 at Aurora Reservoir, this incredible event will feature the Thunderbirds jet team demonstrating a full-scale aerobatic show packed with tricks and turns guaranteed to thrill crowds of all ages. Recently seen flying over Super Bowl XLIX, the team will be joined by dozens of additional aerobatic acts and static ground displays from rocket launches to helicopters.

Hands-on activities and the Kids’ Adventure Zone are free with event admission so bring the whole family for the Friday Night Twilight & Firework Show from 4 to 10 p.m., or both daytime shows Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Due to this special event, the Aurora Reservoir at 5800 S. Powhaton Road will be closed from May 29 to 31, and a Rocky Mountain Airshow ticket will be required for entry to all areas of the reservoir. Plenty of paid parking will be available at the adjacent Arapahoe County Fairgrounds and Arapahoe Park racetrack, which includes a free shuttle to airshow site.

Parking is not available on area streets as there are no street closures associated with this event. Police will monitor streets around the perimeter to make sure event and regular traffic flows as smoothly as possible.  Bring the whole family (but leave the pets at home, please), and join us at the Aurora Reservoir for this spectacular event.

 

Kid’s Night Out Across America @ A Rec Center Near You

Kid’s Night Out is a safe, supervised, FUN weekly event for kids ages 7-14, where they can dance, swim, play games, hang out and win prizes! 

Every week is a new theme, and depending on the location there are various activities to choose from. Rock wall, swimming pool, video games, basketball…just to name a few! 

A live DJ spins tunes that are pre-approved for kids, and all activities are supervised to ensure kids are being safe and appropriate. 

Each rec center sets their own rates, so admission costs vary. Generally between $10 and $15 per kid. Find a location near you to check cost, hours, and activities available and sign your kids up today!

Denver Art Museum Free Day @ Denver Art Museum

The first Saturday of every month is a free day at the DAM! Saturdays are a great time to bring the kiddos-on weekends, the museum checks out backpacks and Art Tubes to families that contain games, puzzles, art activities, and a family friendly guide through the galleries. Also on weekends are the Create and Take stations, where staff instructs your children in a fun and creative activity to bring home!

YA Center’s Second Saturdays @ Young Americans Center for Financial Education

Join us the second Saturday of each month for a unique learning experience, designed especially for youth, ages 3-8, and their parents.  Families attending our Second Saturdays classes will be treated to an interactive tour of Young Americans Bank, the only bank in the world for young people. Then, students and parents will participate in games and activities that teach young people about the importance of money and banking — and how parents can reinforce those lessons at home.

  • Coin Carnival: for ages 3-5; a variety of money-themed games that teach coin recognition and counting
  • Scavenger Hunt: for ages 6-8; explore Young Americans Bank by taking part in a special Scavenger Hunt

Second Saturdays are perfect for the family wanting to open a bank account.  Once the games are finished, kids have the opportunity to take advantage of a real-life, hands-on learning experience by opening a new savings account.

If your child already has an account with Young Americans, Second Saturdays are an ideal way to participate in our referral program.
