Some of us from the forums and meetup group meet at Barnes & Noble once a week to get away from the kiddo’s and hubby for a couple hours to chat, sip coffee and some of us get crafty! Brandi shared a pattern to make a turtle named Sheldon from knitty.com. We all fell instantly in love! Not only is he adorable, but his shell is removable so you can make different colors, patterns, costumes and more! Cartman would love him, so I decided to make him to model after our own turtle… Hot Rod.

Knitschmidt ordered all the yarn (group discount!) and we all printed our patterns and got to work. Well, some of us got to work. Knitschmidt and Brandi have started theirs. Mine is still a pile of yarn and I’m not even sure who else is going to knit with us. To keep track of everyone’s progress we’ve been chatting in the forums and also have a Ravelry group. Do you knit? Crochet? Play with yarn? Then you should join us! The Ravelry group is a great way to get to participate in the Knit-a-long even if you aren’t in Colorado!

Knitschmidt is trying to out-knit us all. She’s almost done with her first Sheldon already! Clearly she is trying to show off. I need to find pictures from our other members to see how far along they are! I would post a picture of my own Sheldon if I had a picture, but yeah, not only have I not started, I’ve also not bothered to charge my camera for the past week! D’oh!
