Made in Colorado
2011 Holiday Gift Guide
This year I thought it would be great to feature some local businesses in a gift guide. I, for one, love to support local business, especially ones started by moms. Whether it’s selling crafty items on etsy or owning a wine bar (um, hello! Wine!), Moms are now going into business for themselves. People often use the term “Mompreneur”, but I much prefer calling them what they really are, “Awesomesauce”. 😉 Here are some local mom-owned businesses you won’t want to miss.
About: MamaMade is just me…a mama of three…making each and every item from start to finish. I love the creative process, and having a finished product at the end is just frosting for me.
I have three boys who keep me on my toes, and leave me to sew only late at night. My youngest has a chronic health condition which is quickly teaching (and reminding me) about how to be so grateful for the wonderful things I have in life.
Our favorite item? The Sock Monkey Santa shirt. 🙂
Amelia Kay Photography
Her photography takes my breath away! I’ve bought many, many prints and bookmarks from her over the years. Simply stunning! Don’t take my word for it though, check it out for yourself in her Etsy shop – AmeliaKayPhotography.Etsy.com

The Wine & Cheese
Hello?! Two things I can never get enough of! This local Westminster wine bar is THE place to go for a date night, ladies night, or in my case, a random Tuesday. 😉
Located in the Orchard Shopping Center off of 144th & I-25, The Wine and Cheese also has a wine store, Orchard Wine Cellar, so you can purchase the wines you sampled. Check out this amazing platter. Makes your mouth water doesn’t it?! You can visit their website at http://www.thewineandcheese.com/
You might recognize the name. Yup, it’s our own Kate aka Knitschmidt. 😉 She has an adorable Etsy shop (Knitschmidt.com) with even cuter hats and models (see if you can spy which one is my Brady).
About Knitschmidt – I’m a stay at home mom to three wild little kids, who are my inspiration. When I’m not chasing the two big ones around or tending to the little one, I knit. My Grandma taught me how when I was little, but somewhere along the way I put down the needles and forgot how to use them. Then I married the son of a knitter, crocheter, spinner, sheep farmer, crafter all around. My mother in law gave me a knitting refresher course and then we had our son and I discovered all of the adorable little kid stuff to be made. Of course, my kids could never possibly wear EVERYTHING I make, so here I am! Of course, I do make some stuff for grownups too…
Hat’s are her specialty but if you find something you just have to have, she can usually make that too. She made Brady’s adorable blanket, some dino toys and hats!
Monkey Toes Shoes
Adorable shoes made by and adorable woman! Jenny Ford is the designer behind this cute shoe line and sickenly sweet. 😉 She should be as her other business is her blog Sugar Loco!
About Monkey Toes: Monkey-Toes is a playful line of fun animal and insect themed footwear for children. Since 2002 our collections of sneakers and mary janes has been designed with both parents and kids in mind.
Monkey-Toes make the everyday activity of putting on shoes and socks more fun by introducing friends for the feet, all while providing quality footwear for children.

Alot of my items are one of a kind and I am open to custom order requests. Happy shopping! You have chosen a great site to shop!!!
I recently won the 2011 Moms in Business Unite Inventor Showcase for my iPad covers! What an amazing honor to have other women business owners vote for them!
