Ever wanted to learn a new craft? I’m starting to post more and more crafty things like knit and crocheted items and soon will be posting patterns I’ve written. While a lot of my readers may already know how to knit and crochet, I’m sure a fair amount of you haven’t tried it yet, so I’m here to help.
I use crochet to relax. In the beginning, when you are first picking up a hook and some yarn, it might not seem so serene and calming, but after a bit of practice, it can be quite the soothing craft. I crochet while watching a movie with my family or waiting in the car pool line at the school. I love to bundle up under a warm blanket and crochet when it’s snowing outside as well, which, living in Colorado, I get plenty of chances for during the winter and spring.
Instead of just telling you how to crochet and pointing you to some books, I’ve made a series of videos that will have you going from just learning what a crochet hook is, to completing a washcloth (or dishcloth as I love to use these in the kitchen). In the future, I’ll have a video on how to make a scarf, cowl, headband and possibly a baby blanket. If there is something you’d love to learn how to make, comment below and I can either find a pattern for you or show you how to make it.
I do hope you enjoy this as much as I do and forgive the terrible state my hands are in, in the videos. I am a mom to three VERY possessed rambunctious boys, so no time for a manicure!

I just wanted to say thank you for your blog it has been the absolute best in teaching me again. I haven’t crocheted in years and had pretty much forgotten everything. I had read book after book watched video after video but i came upon yours and it actually showed me the steps i was missing. So again THANK YOU!!!!
Any idea approximately how many yards to make the washcloths? I understand that everyone stitches differently and may crochet more or less rows. I am just trying to approximate about how many cloths you could make from one of those balls of yarn (mine has 190 yds. in it.)
Thanks for the easy to understand tutorial.
I’m confused. On the washcloth you chained and than on the next row you chained 2 and went into the 3rd stitch and did hdc, and said repeat, are you supposed to go every third stitch? I looked like she went into every stitch but she said repeat, so I am confused.

I am not sure why one chains 22 to have 20 stitches afterwards. Why not chain 21 and go into the 2nd stitch when doing the half double stitch to make 20 stitches.
Thanks.

Having the hardest time with a granny square baby blanket.
I am a visual learner and these video’s were just what I needed! Thank you so much!
I have known how to crochet for several years now, but I have wanted to try patterns that are shown in books. I have never known what the sc and dhc meant. A friend taught me years ago and she didn’t tell me what I was doing. So for years I have crocheted making rows after rows after rows of double and single crochets. After watching your tutorial I can start those books. I know what it means when it says after 2 chs begin in third ch from hook. I will be on the look out for other patterns you have done. You do a very good job explaining and taking your time with this so everyone can understand.
Awesome! if you ever need help reading a pattern, you can email me at mom@coloradomoms.com.

So does this mean I now have no excuse not to crochet? Love to knit, but the crochet books and videos were never too good. Now I want to pull out my hook, grab some cotton yarn, and watch your show me the way. Thank you
