My husbands family are all dentists! His Dad, Brother, Uncle and Cousin have a practice in Lakewood, Colorado. I’m constantly reminded about how to keep teeth healthy and bright. Here are five simple things you can do for your child to help keep their smiles healthy and bright.
1. Brush. D’uh! But you’d be surprised how many kids ages 12 and under don’t brush twice a day! Just twice a day keeps the germs away!
2. SmartRinse. We LOVE Smart Rinse in our house. Any after brushing rinse helps to get all the plaque and yuckies that the kids may have missed, and helps keep their breath fresh too!
3. Trident Gum! Chewing Trident between meals is a great way to keep bacteria off those pearly whites.
4. Limit the sugar. If the kids have a soda here and there, it’s fine, but make sure they brush afterwards and not to let that soda or candy sit on their teeth too long.
5. Visit the Dentist!!! I’m guilty of going too long between cleanings myself, but the kids get in to see their Uncle every 6 months. It’s essential for staying on top of their oral hygiene and keeping an eye out for nasty cavities.
