Brown Sugar Meatloaf {This Ain’t Your Mama’s Meatloaf!}

Time to dust off the ol’ recipe and bring some new life to it! Have you made our Brown Sugar Meatloaf? If so, did you like it?! This is hands down my favorite meal to make. Takes a bit of time, but something the kids love, I love and the leftovers taste even better the next day!

 

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

 

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Serves: 4-6
Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 med – large onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup quick oats
  • 2 tsp. ground mustard
  • 2 tsp. paprika
  • 1 tsp. dried thyme
  • 1 1/2 tsp. basil
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. onion powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. pepper
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375 (F). Lightly grease a 5×9 inch loaf pan.
  2. Press the brown sugar in the bottom of the prepared loaf pan and spread the ketchup over the sugar.
  3. In a small mixing bowl combine all the spices and set aside.
  4. In a mixing bowl, mix thoroughly all remaining ingredients. Blend in seasoning mix. Shape in a loaf and place on top of the ketchup in the pan.
  5. Bake, covered in preheated oven for 1 hour, then uncovered for 15 minutes or until juices are clear.

    HAHA!! That is my mom’s meatloaf!! Okay she did use one less egg and used tomato sauce instead of ketchup and mixed in the leftover tomato sauce instead of milk. And no measuring spices. It’s the best meatloaf! I still make it :-)
