The heat is on! My 1st choice of activities when the mercury starts to rise is floating in the pool, and after that, standing in the pool and after that, swimming in the pool. I plan on spending every waking second of the 101 degree weather in the pool. But for those of you who may have a little more tolerance for the heat here are a couple of fun things going on around town this week.

Hear, See, Smell, Taste and Touch Like a What?
Join a park naturalist at Bear Creek Lake Park in Morrison for an evening of fun and education for the entire family. Discover how different animals use their sense. Antennae smell, feathers feel, some animals hear to see, a fly can taste with its feet, frogs only see the color …..? See if you can do as the animals do. A marshmallow roast will follow the program!

Kidspree
KidSpree is the Denver metro area’s only free outdoor festival for kids, featuring more than 50 hands-on activities ranging from educational and recreational to the arts, including local and national children’s entertainment. Kidspree is located at Bicentennial Park 13655 E. Alameda Avenue (Alameda and Potomac, just west of I-225) Park in the Southwest Lot of the Town Center at Aurora and catch the free shuttle!

70th Annual Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo
Take the family out for a day of fun at the rodeo. There is Muttin Bustin and Bronco Buckin! The Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo is one of the nation’s premier Rodeo Competitions. Your bound to find hours of enjoyment. The Rodeo is being held at Norris-Penrose Event Center.

Cost: Ticket prices vary from $10 – $15 for adults and $5 – $10 for kids for the rodeo.

Aspen Grove Free Family Movie+
The outdoor theatre opens early at 5:00 pm so you can come early to reserve your spot in front of the big screen. During this time you can grab dinner at one of our restaurants, play games with our emcee, visit vendor and sponsor booths, win prizes and enjoy the other fun activities like our jumpy castle! This weeks movie is Night at the Museum – Battle of the Smithsonian
