Christmas lights may be one of my favorite parts of the season. Cranking out the Christmas music…piling everyone into the car with cups of cocoa…obnoxious singing of Christmas carols at the tops of our lungs. These are the things that make Christmas magical.
So if you’re looking for places to see some lights around the metro area, I’ve got a few ideas. Some make a great evening event and cost money, some are free fun places to check out. Do you have any to add? I’d love to know your favorite places to see lights — share ’em with us in the comments!
Free Places to See Lights:
O’Brien Park in Parker — a magical, beautiful display of lights throughout the park. Also check out their free carriage rides on the weekends.
Main St in downtown Littleton — wander down Main Street, admire the lights, and maybe pop into the local coffee or tea shop for a hot drink to warm up!
Washington Ave. and Clear Creek Trail in Golden — wander down Washington St., popping into shops and admiring the lights, or go for a stroll along the Clear Creek Trail, which is also decked out for the holidays. And check out Golden’s free carriage rides as well.
Denver’s Union Station and City & County Building — see the lights at Union Station, and then head inside to admire the giant Christmas tree. And it’s not really Christmas in Denver until you’ve seen the lights at the City & County Building.
Paid Places to See Christmas Lights:
Zoo Lights — at the Denver Zoo, every night from Dec. 2-Jan 1, 5:30p-close. This year, the Denver Zoo is introducing value night pricing — get a break on the admission price if you go between Dec. 2-15.
Blossoms of Light — at Denver Botanic Gardens, every night from Nov. 25-Jan 1, $13 adults, $10 kids. Try looking at lights through their HoloSpex glasses and see the Gardens’ sound-reactive animated LED lights.
Trail of Lights — at Chatfield Botanic Gardens, Nov. 25-Jan 1, $11 adults, $8 kids. See their animal light sculptures and an enchanted forest of lights.
Hudson Gardens — at Hudson Gardens, Littleton, weekends Nov. 25-Dec 11, every night except Christmas from Dec 16-31, $9 adult, $6 child. See thousands of twinkling lights and visit with Santa (through December 23).
