Knitting Gone Wild!

I’ve had a few projects going that I set aside for one reason or another. Yesterday I decided to tackle finishing them before I started on my new chunky hat pattern design. I got quite a bit done! Sheldon, a knitty.com free pattern, was first on my list to finish. I had only started him a week or 2 ago, but was anxious to get him done. Our tortoise HotRod needed a friend!

I got lots of pictures of Sheldon, er, HotRod part Deux. HotRod wasn’t too sure about this guy though. He loved up to him, then hissed. I guess he was either pissed that this guy was taking center stage, or that it wasn’t a real tortoise friend. Either way, HotRod was a grumpy gus for a while, stomping around (do tortoises stomp?) and hissing at everyone for a bit.

Cartman loves this guy. He’s been holding onto to him ever since the minute I finished him. Hugging him, hiding candy in him, showing him to his brothers and the neighbors. I’m just waiting until he makes me knit Sheldon a Karate uniform and belts.

The other wild animal I finished up last night was Nautie! A nautilus that Cartman saw on one of the IMAX ocean dvd’s. There was a nautilus skipping across the ocean floor saying “yah yah yah yah” as Johnny Depp narrated. I happened to be on my fave knitting site Ravelry, and low and behold, there was a nautilus pattern! Also from Knitty.com

At first I had sewn his head on upside down. Cartman told me to fix it and he can’t possibly carry around a creature with his head upside down! LOL So I took apart this thing that took me 2 months to finish and fixed it. Being a mom means sometimes you have to do double the work.

Now I’m off to try to finish a JAWS hat I’m making for Tbone. It might take a while as this pattern is incredibly boring. ;)
