Ever wake up and have the sudden realization that you might, just maybe, be insane? Every year we go on the summer trip back to the east coast to visit my husbands family and get some R&R at the beach. I don’t know when exactly it happened, or what I was drinking thinking at the time, but at some point I uttered the words “Hey Honey! I think I’ll drive to the beach with the kids this year.”

In just a few days I will embark on the Great American Road Trip with my three children (aged 2, 6, and 9), my Mom and a Jeep named McLovin’. For 3 weeks. I must be out of my freakin’ mind! The trip will take us from Denver to Northern New York to Virginia, then North Carolina and back home again. When we’re not driving, we’ll be spending time with hubby’s family.* It has now been dubbed “The Wanker Tour” because, well, you tell me…

* and where, you ask, is Knitschmidt’s hubby while all this is happening? As events would have it, after planning this adventure, Mayo changed jobs. Twice. He’ll be in Houston enjoying the peace and quiet of no kids or wife and hanging with his old buddy while I work on securing my future reservation in the padded cell training for his (rockin’) new job!
