Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil Review

My youngest is allergic to everything. I mean EVERYTHING! Milk, Soy, Gluten, Nuts, Citric Acid, Squash, just to name a few. Feeding him is hard these days, but getting easier as more products that are allergy friendly come into the market. I still find myself making the majority of his foods from scratch and often have to heavily modify recipes. One thing that I couldn’t figure out was how to sub butter. Since Chewy is allergic to both milk and soy, there wasn’t anything I knew of that could replace both and still act as butter in recipes. Tropical Traditions solved that problem for me. Coconut Oil! I was nervous at first as my recipe called for softened butter and the oil was, well, oily! I went forward with a recipe that I’ve posted here. Gluten Free Chewy Oatmeal Cookies.

I gathered the ingredients and set to it.

I was amazed that even the the oil was liquified, the batter consistency was the same as if I had used softened butter.

I baked and crossed my fingers.

Well, here goes nothing! The cookies looked like cookies, so I gave one to the harsh food critic in our house and crossed a few more body parts.

He LOVED them!

I’m so happy that I can finally make him baked goods that are allergy friendly and taste like “normal” foods. Thank you Tropical Traditions! You have opened my eyes and kitchen to new possibilities!

I received a jar of Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil for my review. The opinions are mine and honest.

  1. This post caught my eye, and I hope it’s not too forward, but my little one was allergic to *everything* too and our naturopath suggested the Specific Carbohydrate Diet and herbal support for her liver. So far it’s worked, she can have dairy now which just is so exciting! Just wanted to share in case it helped.
