Last week I had my boys invite a few friends over to play with the new Hot Wheels Double Dare Snare. It’s no surprise to any of you by now, that I love what I do. How many of us can say that part of our job is to turn off the computer and go play with our kids? Here is our review of the toy, a video, some pictures and even a giveaway and some exciting news from Hot Wheels. Grab a cup of coffe, sit back and get ready to learn all about it!
First off, we set up the track. The instructions were super easy. Everything was clearly marked and set up took less than 5 minutes. The trickiest part was attaching the clamp that catches the vehicle, but thankfully my 7 year old was paying attention and he figured it out.
Next we got out the cars and tested the track before the friends came over. Now is where I’m going to stress that you get a handful of cars of different varieties to put on the track. Each car is different and their weight and shape affect how they race through the double dare snare. Some will work perfectly, others? Notsomuch. But that is where the fun is!
We had a whole set of time trials for the cars that were provided in our party kit. The set itself comes with one car that, naturally, glides through like a dream. We then tested cars of about every size and shape that either were sent to us or we had on hand. (side note: I didn’t realize just HOW MANY Hot Wheels we had until last week. With three boys… it’s A LOT!)
We love the fast paced action, ability to race a friend and how easy it is to put together. It also doesn’t take up a lot of room and can disconnect in a way that makes it easy to store when you aren’t playing with it.
What we thought needed improving was the ramps you can set as a “trap” to deflect the cars off the course. My boys and our guests ignored that aspect of the toy completely as it was awkward to set that and then race back to release the cars.
One last thing I loved was that this was a toy that all three of my boys could use and play together with. With such huge gaps between them (ages 13, 7 and 4) it is hard to find a toy that they collectively enjoy, and this is now one of them.
Double Dare Snare allows boys to race 1:64 scale Hot Wheels® side by side, down a twisty track, through a hair-raising loop and over a jump at the edge of a steep canyon. Inspired by the real life crew of Team Hot Wheels™ drivers, this daring stunt set proves that two vehicles are better than one.
- The winning vehicle in the Double Dare Snare™ is carefully scooped to safety by a quick snapping snare and saved from a perilous fall. Meanwhile, the slower car must attempt the harrowing jump or plummet to the ground trying.
- To keep the race fair, a distinct starting point is strategically built in so each race is “clean”.
Now for some exciting news!
JUST ANNOUNCED: Hot Wheels is bringing the Double Dare Snare™ track set to life at this year’s X Games Los Angeles on June 30th. The anticipated Double Loop Dare is a six-story tall, dual vertical loop that will pair two Team Hot Wheels drivers together, placing them into a never-before-seen upside down challenge. The stunt is set to be the biggest thrill of the summer! Your family can watch it live on ABC beginning at 11:20 PDT on Saturday, June 30th.
Fans around the world will watch in awe as the two drivers accelerate to 52 MPH to enter the six-story tall loop, hitting 7 Gs as they circle through. The G-force created in the Hot Wheels Double Loop Dare will be equivalent to what fighter jet pilots experience in flight.
