All parents know that we’re supposed to limit our kids’ screen time and encourage at least 30 minutes of active exercise a day, but when it’s raining or pushing 100 degrees outside, what is a conscientious mom to do?
Cue Adventure To Fitness. The #1 education supplement of any kind, Adventure To Fitness is endorsed by America’s top doctors and educators. It is Parent’s Choice approved, and winner of a 2012 Family Choice Award. The Adventure To Fitness team has been providing their unique, interactive videos to classrooms since 2010. Recently, they’ve begun offering their streaming and DVD subscriptions to families, as well. Check out the Adventure to Fitness Store!
What is an Adventure To Fitness episode like? I recently got the chance to check it out along with my kids and let me tell you it is a lot more fun, and a MUCH more intense workout, than I would have guessed!
Each episode is 30 minutes in length, and presents curriculum-aligned lessons in math, science, social studies, language arts, health, and nutrition, while keeping kids moving at a moderate-to-vigorous pace for the full half hour (recommended for growing bodies and minds!). Kids feel like they’re part of the action in the fun video game format, and it’s their job to help defeat the villain Mr. Laze. Explore Colonial times or ancient Mayan civilization…every episode is a new adventure in a different, exciting setting!
If your child’s school already participates, you’ll be able to track their progress and access the games, quizzes, and activities to supplement what they’re doing in the classroom. If not, you can sign up for either a streaming or DVD subscription starting around $10 a month for the whole family. I don’t know about you but I can’t think of very many things to do with my three kids that cost less than 35 cents a day. Also, why not suggest to your principal or PTO that they get your school involved? With participants reporting improved academic performance, focus, physical strength and endurance, and overall behavior, Adventure To Fitness is a truly one-of-a-kind teaching tool that gives kids a “brain break” every day, even when it’s too cold/hot/rainy/snowy/tornado-y/whatever Colorado decides to throw at us. Check out my kids in this video clip, they are having so much fun! Even my almost 12 year old, too cool for school daughter was getting into it!
