Slime Recipe for Special Needs Kids

Editor’s Note: This post was originally published in 2010, but the slime craze is back so we refreshed our post.

Brady was having his occupational therapy for his autism, we were working on fine motor and sensory skills, when our therapist thought we could make cornstarch slime to burry objects in. I remembered making slime with my middle son (who was  8 at the time) at school and went to find the recipe.  Turns out I didn’t have the ingredients on hand for that recipe, so I combined a few different slime recipes until we found the perfect consistency.

We could bury small objects in the slime and Brady would use his fine motor skills to take them out. The slime was cold and a strange texture, so his sensory issues could be addressed at the same time, not to mention, this slime has no mess! It comes off clean nearly everything it touches (not carpet and some knit clothing, so still be careful around those!).

Here are some pics from therapy that day, and the recipe!
