Christmas
Made in Colorado 2011 Holiday Gift Guide This year I thought it would be great to feature some local businesses in a gift guide. I, for one, love to support local business, especially ones started by moms. Whether it’s selling crafty items on etsy or owning a wine bar (um, hello! Wine!), Moms are now going into business for themselves. People often use the term “Mompreneur”, but I much prefer calling them what they really are, “Awesomesauce”. Here are some local mom-owned businesses you won’t want to miss....
If you live in the Denver area and haven’t heard about Tenley, you either don’t watch TV or frequent facebook. This little girl sparked a donation sensation after she decided that the American Girl doll she had saved up for a long time for, should go to a sick child at Children’s Hospital. After posting about what her daughter decided to do, and how they would match her donation, her mother Tracee was overwhelmed with the response from friends about wanting to match Tenley’s donation as well. Here is an excerpt from Tenley’s blog (as told by her father) How...
I should be considered and Olympic Shopper. I can hunt sales and get deals better than ever before. I’ve gotten half off (or more) just about everything I buy since the beginning of time… Until this shopping season. Before Black Friday hit, I scoured the secretly uploaded ads, hunted down websites, searched for coupon codes on sites like dealspl.us and retailmenot to combine with the BF deals. I had a plan! Then Black Friday came and went. It took Cyber Monday with it. And what did I buy during that maddness? A few legos and a Santa-ma-jig. Yup. That’s it....

We’ve got the kids pretty well covered so far, but how about the furry kids? You can’t forget them on the holidays! Hartz has them covered. They have toys for every pet personality! Since the turtle wasn’t much interested in the dog toys, Emily called for reinforcements. I rounded up the Knitschmidt family dog, Lucky, and headed to the Bark Park. Her pals, Kyli and Hank and their Colorado Moms owners Hethyr and Erin joined us and we busted out a couple of toys from the Hartz Holiday Look Book. Hank was a big fan of the Dura Play Ball....
Have you been to the Hudson Gardens “Hudson Holiday” event already this year? How about years past? The kids and I are going this weekend so I will have lots of pictures to share with you all! I miss going up to Bandimere and driving through the lights. After we moved away from Morrison I noticed they weren’t up every year anymore. The kids LOVE Christmas/Holiday lights so much and I love how Hudson Gardens has made it family friendly and safe. From their site: Ticket prices are so reasonable! At only $9 for an adult and $6 for kids...
Toy Story 3 Action Links are the HOT toy this Holiday season! I can now see why, they are both addictive and a total blast! We were selected to host an in-home party featuring these toys. The boys were so excited! We got Toy Story 3 plates, printed pictures from the movie, had Pizza Planet bagel bites and made Little Green Men cake pops! The boys were super excited to set up all the action links! Carter loves Evil Dr. Porkchop (“That’s Mr. Evil Dr. Porkchop to you buddy!“) So he set that one up first! Thomas helped me with...
