[Recipe] Gnocchi with Bacon Cream Sauce
I found an amazing recipe on The Reluctant Gormet and made some modifications to perfect it for our family. Everyone gobbled it up! Ignore the fact it’s not every heart healthy with all the bacon grease, cheese and heavy cream… That’s what makes it even more delicious! Oh! And if you don’t happen to have heavy cream on hand, I mixed 1/3 c melted butter/margine with 3/4 c regular milk and added 1 tablespoon of flour. Mix it up and viola! Makes 1 cup heavy cream. Recipe: Gnocchi with Bacon Cream Sauce Ingredients 2 tablespoons olive oil 2 tablespoons butter...
The Therapists Notebook – Food for Thought
Do you ever open your fridge or cupboards and wonder, “What am I going to feed my child today………..?” If you do, you are not alone! I am a pediatric Occupational Therapist and work with several children on their feeding skills. One of the most common problems that young children face with their eating is entering into what is called a “food jag”. This happens when a child will only eat a specific food in one way. For example, a child will only eat Annie’s macaroni and cheese with shells. If you try and present macaroni and cheese with a...

Why do you knit, Knit?
I have a NEED to do something with my hands. I went to college to study graphic design, but quickly discovered I didn't want to just design. I loved the production end just as much, if not more. I didn't want to just come up with the idea, I needed the follow through. I loved the messy printing end, but didn't want to give up the creative design end. So I took a break to figure things out. My parents are still bitter. And I got married, and had babies and decided what I REALLY wanted to do was be...

Gnocchi
[Recipe] Italian Gnocchi with Chicken
Tired of pasta and don’t feel like making a risotto? This is my go-to for pasta night here. My kids LOVE Gnocchi! Gnocchi (pronounced nee-okkee) are an excellent alternative: They’re fantastic with all sorts of sauces, from a simple summer tomato sauce to the richest winter meat sauce. Florentines call them topini (field mice), because the home made ones vaguely resemble mice in size and shape. This can produce a certain amount of confusion outside of Tuscany; one of my wife’s aunts once caused a stir in a restaurant in Rome when she saw someone else eating gnocchi and asked...
Electrolux and Kelly Ripa
From Rumpled to Runway with Kelly Ripa
I’ve been lusting over this washer and dryer every time I see an Electrolux commercial with Miss Kelly Ripa herself. These commercials are so cute! I was honored to get the chance to let you all know about a special project Electolux and Kelly are teaming up for. Electrolux and brand ambassador Kelly Ripa are partnering with some fashion-savvy bloggers to host a special fashion show to help raise awareness and funds to support ovarian cancer research. This is a cause near and dear to me as my mom had cervical and uterine cancer that they caught before it spread...
