Whenever my boys bring home those Scholastic Book order sheets, I go a little nuts. I can't tell you how many times I've ordered books from these sheets after the boys have circled all the ones they want. Actually, I can. As many times as they have brought them home. Let's see... Thomas is in 7th grade, so about 8 or 9 years of ordering. Like I said, obsessed.
My middle boy is 7 and just got moved up to chapter books like Magic Treehouse in 1st grade. The BOB Books were a big help in his early love for...
I was lucky to get an advance copy of Nan Rossiter's latest novel, Words Get in the Way. A fiction novel about a mother's struggle with a child with Autism.
As a mother of an autistic child myself, I was glad to see that the author not only depicted a child with autism in a realistic way, but also the struggles of the mother. So many times books glaze over the mothers feelings or, even worse, trivialize them as the over-bearing and frazzled care takers. Nan Rossiter perfectly captures the emotions from struggles to joy in this book.

Kickboard Scooters are going to make a big splash this spring. They are already making a HUGE splash with my boys. We received a Mini, Maxi and a regular ol' 2 wheel scooter from Kickboard USA. I was especially excited as it was supposed to start warming up here in Colorado and we had a couple days of 60 degree weather on the horizon. Nothing like letting the boys run off their energy outside instead of with a face in some sort of video game.

If you have ever been to my house, you know there is marker, sharpie, crayon, ink pen and even glitter on my walls. I have no idea why little ones think it's necessary to draw a mural on a nice clean wall, but for some reason all three of my boys have. I stopped painting over them long ago. I just couldn't keep up! Thank goodness the makers of BlankZ contacted me to see if I'd be interested in reviewing their toys. Yes!!! Finally something my kids can color on besides my walls. ;)

This year I decided to host our family Thanksgiving at our house. We will be hosting my parents, my in-laws and my Brother-in-law and his family. There will be 13 of us. I’ve hosted holiday dinners before, but Thanksgiving is quite the ordeal because, in addition to wanting to have the place decorated for Thanksgiving and getting ready to decorate for Christmas, we also need to prepare tons of food! I was a bit overwhelmed until my bloggy friend Tara from Feels Like Home gave me a copy of her new eBook, Your Best Thanksgiving Ever!...
My kids have owned about every type of pet known to man. Recently our hermit crab (named, bat crab) floated on up to hermit crab heaven. My seven year-old is used to pets dying (hint to me to stop buying them maybe?!) and wasn’t too torn up about it, but misty nonetheless. The next afternoon we got a package in the mail and it was full of XiaXias. Carter turned to me and said two things, “Hey, we don’t need to get a new hermit crab now Mom!” (wasn’t going to anyway kid) and, “Even though these look like girl...
My first post about California Wine’s wine of the month club told you all about life as a mom and how a glass of wine can relax me at the end of the day. Well, they just sent me another couple of bottles and this was perfect for entertaining! My friends often times like to get together and chat about our daily lives, what big plans we have coming up and what is going on in the world around us. This shipment came just a couple days before one of these get-togethers and proved once again, how amazing they are...
In reviewing the Marble Jar app over the past month, I found an amazing way to use it. You see, Brady does behavior therapy twice a week. It’s usually 5 min exercises in PT/OT or speech mixed in with learning to take turns, learning to look people in the eyes to say Hello and Goodbye amongst other things. He does an activity for 5 minutes, he gets a 2 minute break, so on and so forth. Some days he powers through his scheduled routine and other days he struggles....
