With the countdown to school almost over I find myself trying to cram every last summer related activity into our weekends. I know that the temperature won’t drop for another couple of weeks, but once school starts it feels like summer has pretty much come to an end.
There are plenty of events going on around Denver to help ease that end of summer transition. Check out some of the great things going on around town this weekend.
Friday, August 20 through Saturday, August 21 – Wheatridge Carnation Festival
An exciting fireworks display on Friday evening as well as many live music acts which will perform on our main stage with headliners such as the Six Million Dollar Band and the Nacho Men. A spaghetti dinner will be put on by the Wheat Ridge Fire Department on Friday night and there is a Chili Cook-off on Saturday night where citizens and surrounding Fire Departments will compete for prizes. Twenty food vendors will be serving up BBQ, Mexican food and standard festival fare like those yummy funnel cakes. The beer garden, serving margaritas this year, will be a hit with adults while the crafts on the midway are geared to the kids. Check out the art show, classic car show, carnival rides for all ages and the carnation parade.
